Original art: The Hunter

Even though my previous artworks may not really reflect it, I have always loved dark fantasy and monstrous creatures. So I thought it was about time to create another piece in that vein.

For this artwork, I challenged myself with a difficult perspective: a direct view from the ground looking straight upward. As a result, both the knight’s proportions and the way the light filters through the forest canopy had to be carefully adjusted. The advantage of such an angle is that it makes the composition feel more dynamic and engaging. It also actively contributes to the storytelling.

The hunting—or perhaps hunted—creature is a grotesque hybrid of a centipede and a stag. The image is built around a strong contrast created by intense light sources against a dark environment. Because of this, the reflections on both the knight’s armor and the creature’s chitinous shell had to be rendered much more prominently.
