I created this piece without the help of any reference material. I wanted to test how far I could push my own imagination and creativity.

The image is relatively minimalistic, focusing entirely on the duel between the demon and the knight. The environment is only vaguely recognizable through rough outlines. The strong glowing red from the rift dominates the surounding light.

I attempted to subtly suggest the striking motions of the combat. The light-like streaks are meant to represent the movement of the glowing blade and, in turn, the motion of the knight. In the demon’s case, the glowing gaping wound and the released axe reveal the result of the attack. Through the strong color contrasts, the roles of good and evil are easy to distinguish, as is the victor of the duel.
